A dwarf population of Daedalochila auriculata is (was) present in the western edge of Paynes Prarie Preserve State Park along Southwest Williston Road (County Road 331) near the intersection of that road and South Main Street in downtown Gainesville. A visit to that location on 3/12/2011 yielded numerous empty shells of this morph but no living specimens. A follow-up survey of the site on 5/13/2011 once again yielded numerous empty shells but no living specimens. It remains undetermined whether living snails are still present.
